Diversity was once seen mainly as a manifest realization of the quest for social justice. Today, especially in a workplace setting, it is also widely recognized as a source of competitive advantage and as an issue that acknowledges the differences that might exist not just between demographics or groups but between individuals.
In this paper, we explore diversity’s history and its relationship with meritocracy as well as its capacity to impact positively on organizations and its shareholders. Diversity at Invesco means maintaining a tolerant and respectful culture, creating an environment where people feel valued and celebrating collective expertise, knowledge and experience.
